Presentation
Gloria used flashcards to present the clothes, the vocabulary target. It was a nice strategy because to me they were already familiar in a way of this vocabulary. Alan and the other older children, knew some of the vocabulary and they were responding to Gloria's eliciting. Something that I wish they had done is to have the images bigger. However, I saw that they were capable of seeing the images. she showed the skirt, t-shirt, shoes, glasses, etc. She showed them and they repeat the word and also she explained touching her own t-shirt, jeans, shoes, socks so they can actually know a bit more the word. It was a nice idea, to point to real clothes so that they are sure about the meaning. she used also the question: "What is this?" and they answer to some of the clothes. I saw Imelda paying attention to this part, she was encoutering the vocabulary and as everyone in the class need drilling a examples.
There was a part where Gloria said: "What do you have?", when she gave them a piece of clothes and she reached the pair of shoes that she had with her. I think that it was not so good to say a shoe at a time, but to say "shoes" only. This also happen with the "glasses" word. I could be stated that they can be confused with it. I think that she was nervous and got confused.
Then, gloria taught them a song about clothes!! I think that it was nice and fun for them. They like to play around and shake their bodies! I think that they liked when she introduced a new word and modeled how that piece of clothes was using the hands and body movement. They work hard to keep up singing and moving their bodies.
Even though she modeled how to do the activity, I think that she is continously talking fast and we know that children are aware of us modeling not specifically understanding our speech. so, we have to manange more how fast we are talking. I liked that she always had control over the group and they obeyed her when she called their names.
The next activiy was in charged of Luis. He used the technique/activity of memory game. I really enjoyed how they were hands-on the activity. They showed great interest and even my case of study was perfectly able to use her cognitiveness and participate in the activity. I liked that Luis had the control over the participation. He does seem nervous at the begining, but he overcame those feelings. It was so important to control the participation because there will be a moment where they would scream or something and the activity could be lost.
The final part of the practice managed by Luis was about putting on the clothes he brought for them to wear. They were genuinaly having fun with this activity, I am not so sure if they were able to show if they know the vocabulary and demostrate to Luis to respond to the questions he asked them. Despite of this, they were having lot of fun. To me even though they were so franctic about putting on the clothes, they realized how to answer Luis questions. In this activity I saw that Imelda was not interested in the activity, not as much as the rest of the class. She was shy and did not put on the clothes that she chose. I guess she did not understand what piece of clothes she chose and then she got intimitated by the boys playing around.
He wanted the children to make two lines in front of the rest of the children, but he did not control much the discipline. I think this was the only aspect that I recommend him to watch over. Once they control the activity, there are fewer chances to recover the activity, or at least it becomes more difficult to achieve the objective of the activity. Other than this, Luis taught them well!
Look at these BIG shoes on Alan! :D |

I like the way in which you describe the class, also I agree with you about that children enjoyed the class. I consider that it is important to create and design activities in which students can involve, because they feel confident and motivated to participate in the activities.
